ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Pakistan is determined to pursue broad-based bilateral cooperation with Argentina in the interest of expanding economic relations.
He added that sustained cooperation in agriculture was central to achieving food security and sustainable development. He was speaking to Mr. Ivan Ivanissevich, Argentina’s Ambassador to Pakistan who called on him at Parliament House, Islamabad, on Thursday.
Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, Convener of Pak- Argentina Friendship Group was also present on the occasion. In a warm invitation extended to the Speaker of Argentina’s Parliament to visit Pakistan, the Speaker asserted that Parliamentary engagement and economic cooperation will give a renewed strength to the relations between Pakistan and Argentine. In addition to strengthening Parliamentary ties, he underlined the need for a comprehensive framework to cement people to people contacts. Ayaz Sadiq added that the present government had provided a highly conducive environment for foreign investors. He further added that current government was committed to facilitating foreign investors.
The Speaker stressed that Pakistan’s political and military leadership’s commitment to root out terrorism in all its forms and manifestations was unflinching. He outlined that Pakistan’s counter-terrorism strategy was guided by a jointly formulated National Action Plan which ensured across-the-board action against terrorism.
The Argentine Ambassador Ivan Ivanissevich acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices and endeavours for global peace and security. He remarked that Pakistan had played a frontline role against the scourge of global terrorism. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from the country.
Ivan Ivanissevich further remarked that Argentina attached immense importance to its relations with Pakistan. He highlighted that Parliamentary cooperation and exchange of delegations was central to promoting sustained engagement between the two countries.
