ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) announced support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) sit-in in Islamabad on Friday, a local TV channel reported.
Chaudhry Shaujaat Hussain – former Pakistani prime minister – was once again elected as party president and immediately lent support to the PTI against the government. Moreover, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was also elected as the president of the party’s Punjab chapter.
Pervez Elahi said on the occasion that PML-Q couldn’t stay out of the sit-in as it had already been inviting other parties to join it. The party’s general council also decided to hold the intraparty elections after four years instead of three.
Talking to media afterwards, Pervez said that the entire opposition should help the PTI in its sit-in against the government and added that the people of Pakistan still remember the 16 martyrs of Model Town – unattended to by the government.
